Content Management System for website content

Meaning

A content management system helps users to create, manage and modify website content without any special technical knowledge. With a content management system, one has a tool for creating websites without having to basically rewrite all the code. It is also used to store images and create other functions. Thus, one can concentrate on other website areas.

Trained users such as content managers can put content online without programming. No in-depth HTML knowledge is necessary either. The CMS is especially helpful for a dynamic website like a blog or an online shop. Due to the regular new content, one has to update these websites more often.

How it works

With the content management system, content can be easily written into interfaces. Media such as images can be uploaded and managed by browsing through a media library instead of having to work directly with the web server.

Content management systems have user-friendly graphical interfaces at the back end. Several users can work on the creation of digital content at the same time. Via databases such as MySQL, stored website templates are linked with content set by users or administrators. The web content is displayed in the frontend. As a finished result, the website user sees the website.
